How to choose the right socket?
Hi friends,
I think you read the last two article about the sockets.
This time we discuss "How to choose the right socket ? "
Now the IC test is becoming more and more demands,so many IC manufacturer and IC package test company need to find a good socket for their needs.
For a long time work experience,I think I can help you know how to do that.
1.what about your chip?
a. package type (SOP, QFP, QFN, DFN, eMMC, BGA or other package tyep)
b.Pin count and grid
c.Pin pitch
d.IC size
These 4pcs chip information is the simple information about the chip.
If you can provide the IC datasheet,that is better way to help you find a right socket.
why we must provide the information?
Two reason: firstly,the seller need to suggest the socket for you according to your information.
Secondly,they need to confirm this socket which they have at stock or not.
Because many manufacturer do not have all socket to meet all customer's requirements.
They only have the socket which chip is the popular and conventional.
When you provide that information,the seller will use your information to find the socket in their database.
Such as: SOP16-1.27-TP01NT
2.What is your detailed test request or usage?
Now the IC test work is becoming more and more strict.
It will confirm the IC life cycle and its used device work life and function.
So its request will confirm the socket material and its cost.
Now the test requirements are diverse, and the corresponding test socket is also diverse.
Sort by test difficulty:
a.the basic test: test the IC good or not.(such as the NAND flash BGA152 BGA132 test);
b.the programming work:for program the firmware to chip(such as the QFP32 chip need to write its MCU "bin");
c.High frequency test:RF type chip will need to work on high frequency (such as the QFN32 communication chip,need to work upto 4GHz.);
d.high frequency and high temperature: Military-grade communication chip will need to test on extreme environment.
e.Full function test: for IC design or electrical device research and development lab or company (online Chip test).
d.HAST HTOL burn in test: it is the international burn in test.(the burn in test also have the international test standard on JESD and IEC and other.)
So when you inquiry it,please tell your seller your test details.
They will confirm sockets' material by your information.
Your information will affect the price and related performance.
3.How to confirm your socket quality?
Before the purchase,you need to know the socket drawing and its material.
After buying,your own QA/QC test.
